Places to Visit in Wales

For a small country, Wales manages to cram quite a bit in. We’re not just talking about our mountains, valleys and beaches. Whether you’re after culture, exercise, adventure or peace and quiet, they’re all in Wales.

Gypsy Wood Park

A relaxing magical place located in the foothills of Snowdonia offering something for all the family. Small animals area, picnic areas in lovely locations, large outdoor garden railway, kiddies play area and woodland, wetland nature walks.

Surf Lines

We specialise in adventure activity courses for all ages and abilities. Join us for an adventure day or weekend course, and choose from canoeing and kayaking, paddle surfing, coasteering, rock climbing, abseiling, mountain walking and mountain biking.

Swansea Vale Railway

The Swansea Vale Railway, situated in the Lower Swansea Valley, is a relic of the industrial revolution. Its origins lie in 1816 when Scott's Tramroad was constructed to transport coal from Scott's Pit, near Birchgrove, to wharves on the River Tawe nearly four miles to the South. The engine house of Scott's Pit can still be seen next to the M4 between junctions 44 and 45.

Heatherton Country Sports Park

Heatherton Country Sports Park is a fun and fantastic day out for all the family. Admission to the park is totally free, meaning that you can choose what activities you want to before you pay anything. All equipment needed for each activity is included in the price that you pay. So just pay when you want to play! We are open all year round no matter what the weather condition.

Set in beautiful west Wales countryside, Heatherton is a well established attraction. We have recently added paintball and horseriding to our already impressive list of attractions which also includes one of the best Karting centres in Wales and one of the few automated baseball pitching machines in Europe, plus Archery, Pistol Shoot, Laser Clay Pigeon Shoot, Baseball/Softball Batting Range, Target Bowls, Bumper Boat Racing Lake, Karting, Target Golf, 18 Hole Pitch and Putt.

Carmarthen Castle

Many of you know that Carmarthen Castle has recently undergone a restoration and consolidation program aimed at uncovering and disentangling the castle from its modern surroundings and other intrusions. Indeed, before this much-needed restoration was begun, very little of the castle could be found at all.

Today, much of the fabric of this historic and strategically important medieval castle has been recovered and can now be seen and appreciated by visitors to this busy market town in western Wales.

Conwy Castle

Words cannot do justice to Conwy Castle. The best, simple description is found in the guidebook published by CADW, the Welsh Historic Trust, which states: "Conwy is by any standards one of the great fortresses of medieval Europe." Conwy along with Harlech is probably the most impressive of all the Welsh castles. Both were designed by Edward I's master castle builder James of St. George, and while Harlech has a more storied past, Conwy's eight massive towers and high curtain wall are more impressive than those at Harlech.
